Teradyne & Apple
Teradyne supplies the automated test equipment (ATE) used to test Apple Silicon chips during and after manufacturing at TSMC. Every chip in every Apple product, including the A18 Pro and M4, is tested using Teradyne's semiconductor test systems before it is deemed functional and shipped. Teradyne also supplies handlers and other test peripherals used in Apple's supply chain.
Why it matters: Chip testing is a non-negotiable step in semiconductor manufacturing. A chip with even a single defective transistor out of 16 billion cannot be used in a product. Teradyne's test systems run each chip through thousands of functional tests in milliseconds. Test throughput and accuracy directly affect Apple's chip yield and cost per good die.
