Twilio & Amazon
Twilio and Amazon Web Services have a strategic partnership in which Twilio's communications APIs run on AWS infrastructure and Twilio is a major AWS customer for its global messaging, voice, and video platform. AWS also offers Twilio integration through AWS Marketplace, and Amazon Connect (AWS's cloud contact center service) competes with Twilio's Flex contact center platform. Twilio and AWS have co-marketed joint solutions for contact center modernization and customer engagement automation.
Why it matters: Twilio's communications APIs process over 1 trillion messages and calls annually, requiring AWS's global Points of Presence (PoPs) for low-latency message delivery across 180+ countries. AWS's global infrastructure is foundational to Twilio's service reliability guarantees, and AWS's networking capabilities enable Twilio to offer sub-100ms messaging latency in major markets that Twilio could not achieve with its own independently owned infrastructure.
