Nordson supplies precision dispensing equipment used in iPhone assembly to apply adhesives, sealants, and thermal interface materials. Nordson's dispensing systems are used at Foxconn's Zhengzhou facility and other Apple manufacturing sites to apply the adhesive beads that secure displays, seal water-resistant enclosures, and attach batteries and components.
Why it matters: iPhone's IP68 water resistance rating depends on precise adhesive application around display perimeters, port openings, and button apertures. Nordson's equipment dispenses adhesive to tolerances of fractions of a millimeter at the production speeds required to manufacture over 200 million iPhones annually. Inconsistent application would compromise waterproofing across millions of units.
